About
My name is Emily Sartin. I am a Licensed Esthetician, 3x Certified Microblading and Powder Brows Artist, and proud mother of 3. I studied through Tricoci University, Beauty Angels Academy, and still continue that education to provide top quality work to Peoria, IL in the ever evolving world of beauty and skin care. Before PMU, I specialized in body waxing. I grew up in Chillicothe, IL all my life. Outside of work, my children, fur babies, and plant babies are my everything! Here are some FAQ: What if I don't like my results? Carefully choose your practitioner. Compare the work of various artists before choosing. Discuss your expectations and desired outcome, including the shape, style, and color you wish with the artist. Realize that faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Adjustments may be made during touch-up, such as pigment discoloration and additional strokes. Remember that microbladed eyebrows will eventually fade away if touch-ups are not done, and final results are significantly improved when aftercare instructions are followed properly. Do I lose my hair/do you shave the brows/will it damage the skin and cause hair loss? None of the above. Microblading and powder brows are not implanted deep enough into the skin to damage any hair follicles. It's been shown actually stimulate hair growth in the brow area. I use a razor and tweezers to clean up the hair outside of your desired shape, but your brows are otherwise left intact. How long does the treatment take? Typically, microblading and powder brows are done in two sessions. The first takes 2-2.5 hours. In the first session, the brow is shaped to your bone structure, and pigment is color matched. 6-8 weeks later, the client returns for the second session for touch-up. This takes 1-2 hours. After your second session, I won't see you for another year for your annual touch-up. How long does microblading take to heal? It takes about 10-15 days for healing. In that time, any redness will fade and the initial darkness of the eyebrows will begin to lighten. The color lightens over about 30 days as it completely sets in to the skin. After care is vital for desired results. Why is it necessary to do a touch-up? Everyone heals differently, therefore the outcome varies. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the color and brow thickness by adding more strokes. In the touch up session, final adjustments are made to assure client satisfaction and pigment longevity. Is microblading painful? The level of discomfort is relatively minor. Some liken it to tweezing two to three hairs at the same time. A topical anesthetic is used to numb the area. Topical anesthetics are safe and may contain lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. Redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure. Often clients describe the feeling as a slight sunburn. Tylenol can be used to deaden any discomfort. How long does it last? Generally, microblading lasts twelve to eighteen months, depending on skin type [normal, oily, or dry] and age - young or mature. It is not permanent like a tattoo, because the pigments are not implanted as deeply into the skin. Skincare also affects the duration of the pigments. To maintain the brows, touch-ups are recommended every twelve to eighteen months. *2-3 years for powder brows* Are there any pre-care instructions? Prior to the start of your session please avoid caffeine, alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and any vitamins for 24 hours. Sometimes these have the effect of thinning your blood. Avoid tanning. Are there any post-care instructions? Gently clean brows with a lightly moistened q-tip to remove any lymphatic fluid to avoid large scabbing (this will results in pigment loss) every 2-3 hours. Gently pat brows dry and reapply a very light amount of aftercare ointment. Repeat those steps for days 1-4. Do not immerse brows in water until scabbing has peeled off naturally - do NOT pick, scratch, or peel your brows. Wash your face around your brows. Avoid exercise/excess sweating for 3 days. No swimming, tanning, or saunas for 2 weeks. No face scrubs or chemical peels for 2 weeks. Apply SPF, if you have it, once scabbing is fully healed. Who is NOT a good candidate? Those using Accutane. Anyone with a heart condition or is using heart medications. Anyone with diabetes will need a physician’s approval. Anyone with skin diseases or inflammations. Anyone who had Botox within the last two weeks. Anyone who has gotten a deep tan or chemical peel within the last two weeks. Anyone who requires anesthetic and is allergic to lidocaine, tetracaine, or epinephrine. Anyone with serious medical conditions should consult with their doctors and obtain their approval. Anyone pregnant or nursing. Anyone on blood thinning medications. What are the possible complications? Proper procedures and precautions are used to ensure client safety. Either sterilized tools or disposable tools are used in a highly sanitized environment. When pre- and post-care instructions are followed, the risk of complications are minimal. Allergic reactions to pigments are very rare, but sometimes occur. For this reason, a pigment patch test for those with sensitive skin or allergies to topical makeup products, gold, silver, nickel, or hair dyes should be patch tested in advance of the procedure.Business Hours
